Aikido Kanji Pinback Button
This button says "Aikido" in Japanese Kanji. The literal translation means, "The way of harmony with the energy of the Universe." The actual translation is that it is a martial art, started in Japan by a man named Morihei Ueshiba who is called O Sensei (translates to Great Teacher") by followers of this beautiful Japanese martial art.
This button has the kanji for Aikido on a white background with a red circle. It is an abstract of the Japanese flag, while incorporating the way of the circle, a principle that O Sensei taught of often.
Are these handmade? These buttons, keychains, and hair accessories are handmade by our family: Sarah, John, Madison, and Malia. We design and create jewelry and other items as we travel around the world on our sailboat. You can read more about our adventures on our blog
How are they Made? We design different drawings or use decorative Japanese papers. These papers are precision cut to fit into a button press. They are paired with metal button parts and a protective mylar cover and pressed in a professional button machine. The buttons are 1.5 inches across.
